From the right to the left

There are things that we know but that usually we don't think until we aren't directly involved in certain situations. This is one of that: there are countries which have languages in which the reading and the writing processes proceeds from the right to the left.

This is a well known issue but if, for example, you go in one of these countries forgetting that what is "normal" for you, about these issues, is not normal there (I had this experience), then you can find yourself in situations in which you expect something (for example reading from the left to the right as is in your habits) that cannot happens. And that generate surprise in you.
Cases like that are very important. Allows you to (ri)discover that your way of imaging or thinking something is only "one of the possibles" way. And not "the" way.

Appunti di Viaggio

Come preannunciato qui tra poche ore sarò all'estero per motivi di studio e ricerca tesi. Cercherò di sfruttare al meglio questa grande opportunità che mi è stata concessa. Ho aperto un blog che mi servirà per tenere traccia di informazioni, sensazioni, idee, esperienze e, più in generale, di tutto ciò che mi verrà in mente durante questo breve (ma intenso) soggiorno. Chi vuole può seguirmi anche su Twitter. Oppure, ancora, su Nòva Lab Il Sole 24 Ore (cercherò di scrivere almeno un articolo riguardante le lectures che si terranno).

Link, qualità delle informazioni e "web authoritativeness"

In rete il mezzo principale che permette di dare visibilità ai contenuti on line è il link, banalissimo collegamento ipertestuale ad una risorsa web.

Linkare un sito, un blog, oppure un documento web, dovrebbe implicare alla base (dico "dovrebbe" perché è nota la pratica dello "scambio link a tutti i costi" che permette a siti o blog di scarsa qualità di avere un alto Page Rank e, di conseguenza, un ottimo posizionamento sulle SERP di Google), una selezione meditata delle fonti di informazione che si sceglie di segnalare.
Questa, infatti, sembra essere l'unica strada da seguire (o, quantomeno, se non proprio l'unica, una delle più semplici ed immediatamente realizzabili) per riuscire ad arrivare ad una situazione in cui le pagine web più linkate siano anche quelle effettivamente migliori dal punto di vista informativo.

Credo che la qualità delle informazioni fornite via web debba essere valutata e segnalata, in modo responsabile, dagli stessi abitanti della rete. I link forniti responsabilmente e basati su criteri di scelta "qualitativi" (che sono criteri pur sempre soggettivi ma che, non potendo andare in deroga al principio etico della onestà intellettuale, consentiranno comunque un innalzamento del livello dei contenuti informativi segnalati) porteranno il web a spostarsi dal concetto di "authority" (di carattere quantitativo ed esclusivamente "link based") a quello di autorevolezza (che potremmo definire qualitativo e basato su collegamenti meditati e selezionati).

AGGIORNAMENTO: per leggere l' articolo dovete scorrere la pagina alla quale siete indirizzati seguendo il link. Il sistema delle pagine di Nòva Lab Il Sole 24 Ore, infatti, è fatto in modo tale che, man mano che i diversi autori inviano i loro contributi, i vecchi articoli vengono "sopravanzati" dai nuovi pur restando comunque disponibili all'interno della stessa pagina web. Per trovarli, dunque, basta solo fare un po' di scrolling (scorrimento pagina).

Cyber Wars

In the past military attacks were conducted exclusively with conventional or unconventional physical weapons. And geopoliticals equilibria were obtained with battles or, in more recent years, with bombardments, "intelligent" weapons etc.

Nowadays this "war methods" unfortunately still exists (think at the recent appeal of the Pope about the cluster bombs), but there is a new battlefield where is played the "game" about the international security issues and where the geopolitical influence of the countries is measured. And it's not a physical environment but a digital one. In few years, in fact, the number of cyber attacks increased a lot (see the recent Russia-Estonia case).

And, for that reason, the Nato decided to open in Estonia the first european training center for the defense from cyber attacks. Link: Cyberwar, la NATO non resta a guardare.
