Cyber Wars

In the past military attacks were conducted exclusively with conventional or unconventional physical weapons. And geopoliticals equilibria were obtained with battles or, in more recent years, with bombardments, "intelligent" weapons etc.

Nowadays this "war methods" unfortunately still exists (think at the recent appeal of the Pope about the cluster bombs), but there is a new battlefield where is played the "game" about the international security issues and where the geopolitical influence of the countries is measured. And it's not a physical environment but a digital one. In few years, in fact, the number of cyber attacks increased a lot (see the recent Russia-Estonia case).

And, for that reason, the Nato decided to open in Estonia the first european training center for the defense from cyber attacks. Link: Cyberwar, la NATO non resta a guardare.

Berkeley University courses on YouTube

An incredible initiative of the University of California Berkeley. The american university (one of the most prestigious of the world) have decided to share on Youtube the lessons of it's courses. Within the end of 2007 the californian university wants to share on-line 86 different courses (Ansa).

I think this is a good initiative which could allows the development and the improvement of distance-learning and the overcoming of the economical shields at the knowledge access.
I hope that italian Universities too will start to consider and to use in concrete terms the new technologies (blog, wiki, youtube etc) to support their didactic offers and their research. Here the Berkeley University's page on YouTube.

One post for the environment

I've decided to dedicate my first post of September to an important initiative which involves the bloggers all around the world (wide web). The event which I'm referring at is the Blog Action Day that will be celebrated on October 15th.
In this date the bloggers all around the web will join together their forces to "speak" about, eveyone in his/her manner, one single issue: the environment.
I hope that all the bloggers which usually read this blog will decide to join this initiative. Below the video. To find out more visit Blogactionday.org

Walk2Web. "Walking" on the Web

Walk2Web is a funny site that allows you to surf on the web starting by an URL. Once you have inserted the url in the apposite web form is very easy to start your "web walk" (you have only to click on the button "walk"). After you've done that you can visualize all the links pointing at the starting web site. If you click here you can start your web walk from my Home Page.

P.S. This is my first post in English. Starting by now I'll try to use more frequently this language. If you'll find errors or mistakes in my English you can write me an e-mail with subject: "errori di inglese sul blog". I'll try to improve my English also with your feedback.
Via. You can find more explanations (about Walk2Web) here
